Mercyful Fate - Come To The Sabbath

Mercyful Fate is a Danish heavy metal band from Copenhagen. Initially active from 1981 to 1985, they reunited in 1992. The band went on hiatus again in 2000, when frontman King Diamond decided to continue his solo career. They are cited as major influences by many artists in the black metal, thrash metal, power metal, and progressive metal genres.

Seance, a blogging colleague has a brief history lesson of Mercyful Fates musical career, easy to read and very content rich, divided into two parts, part one you read here and part two here. However, this in Swedish, so use Google Translate, and it becomes about right. :) I got very inspired by these lines so Mercyful Fate has spun in the headphones today. My choice was a classic with this band and album "Don't Break The Oath"

Todays tune "Come To The Sabbath" is taken from Mercyful Fate's second full-length album "Don't Break The Oath". It was released in 1984.

The style Mercyful Fate employed on Don't Break The Oath resembled a mixture of post-Judas Priest and Iron Maiden heavy metal, lyrically preoccupied with Satan and the occult and distinguished by King Diamond's theatrical falsetto vocals. The album was remastered and subsequently re-issued on Roadrunner Records in 1997. This reissue came with the bonus track, "Death Kiss (Demo)," which would eventually evolve into the album's lead-off track, "A Dangerous Meeting."

Metal-Rules.com named "Don't Break the Oath" as the greatest extreme metal album of all time.
