Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - The Death Of You And Me

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds is the solo moniker of former Oasis lead guitarist Noel Gallagher. The band originates from Manchester and includes former Oasis session pianist Mike Rowe, drummer Jeremy Stacey of The Lemon Trees and percussionist Lenny Castro. The band also varies guests on their debut album such as the Crouch End Festival Chorus and The Wired Strings.

Via a tip from a friend who thought that I would listen to Noel's new album which I did, without the hint would probably this had fallen between two stools and disappeared in the noise. I thought that Oasis sounded ok, at least on the debut and album two, where after they became really boring.

Big Brother Gallagher goes its own way and must do things their own way: well-orchestrated Gallagher Rock after brit pop all the rules, relatively smooth underlined pop melodies with well-worn but very easy listening. However, there is something that is interesting, excat what I can not put your finger on.

The singles for Gallagher's debut album are "The Death of You and Me", "If I Had a Gun..." and "AKA... What a Life!". The latter made its debut on a Vauxhall television advertisement, and is only to be released as a UK single.

Gallagher announced that he will begin touring a week after the album is released. He stated, "We're going to go out on tour a week after the album is out. We're going to start off slow in small theatres. If it's good enough to get bigger than that then it'll get bigger than that. I don't think there'll be a huge great big tour this year. I think this year it'll be a quick whizz around the world and try and do the major cities and then it will probably be a bigger tour next year."

The video appears to be part of a three video story start with "If I Had a Gun" then "The Death of You and Me" and ending with "AKA... What a Life!" as all the videos end where the other one finished but the videos weren't released in chronological form as the singles came out in a different order.

Todays tune "The Death of You and Me" is was released as the lead single on 19 August 2011.

Gallagher's second album is a collaboration with Amorphous Androgynous, due in late 2012. He said, "It sounds a bit like Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. The sound is similar to High Flying Birds, but more psychedelic and tripped out. It's not an electronic project. People are jumping to that conclusion because Amorphous Androgynous used to be an electronic outfit."

Pulp - Bad Cover Version

Pulp Visited Way Out West at Saturday afternoon.
It was a joyful Jarvis Cocker that sang on the stage, and he gave it all!
It was a while since we saw them! It was a long time ago since they released an album.
2001 "We Love Life" this is a very poisitive album and its their seventh.

Their musical style has varied, approximately described as "a cross between Abba and The Fall". A local fanzine also noted this eclecticism, describing them as sounding "as if they listen to the John Peel show every night in an endless quest for influences". Indeed, in October 1981, they gave a demo tape to Peel, who granted them a Peel Session. The session was a giant leap forward for the young band, who became well-known on the local music scene as a result. The tracks recorded were in the typical Sheffield sound of the time (cf. The Human League and Comsat Angels): electronic New Wave and post-punk.

After 2003 they had some sort of a break up, then in 2011 they did a reunion,
thats we at Way At West could see and feel right there :D

Ladys and Gents here is a video from their 2001 album.

Here is their homesite if u like to take a peak.
Peace, Thetania

Royal Republic - Full Steam Spacemachine

On the 2nd April the radio station here in Stockholm have their annual
Bandit Rock Award Show, many good band will be there, sutch as:
Danko Jones, Sick Puppies,Royal Republic, Bullet, Plan Three and Pain.

Ill pick one of them today.

Royal Republic from Malmö, Sweden are loud and funky.
Its a Swedish rock band formed in Malmö, Sweden in late 2007. The band consists of guitarist/lead singer Adam Grahn, guitarist Hannes Irengård, bass guitarist Jonas Almén and drummer Per Andreasson.

Royal Republic are redefining Sweden’s rock boundaries with their massive songs, matched in size only by their mouths and their sense of humor, as the album title “We Are The Royal” implies. Grahn laughs, explaining, “This song came along at some point in the middle of the songwriting sessions.
Our drummer Per and I were pretty much holed up in my fucked up little studio apartment for a good month beating our brains out trying to come up with great songs. We were practically delirious, so we decided to write a straight-up fun song for a change. Somehow we came up with the slogan ‘We are the royal’ and we thought it was really cool; so cool in fact that we decided to make it the album title…”

One listen to the black humor of songs like “Tommy Gun” or “Underwear” and it’s obvious that Royal Republic don’t take themselves all too seriously.
“Of course we don’t take ourselves too seriously. With songs like ‘Underwear’ or ‘Good To Be Bad’, we really hope that people get our sense of irony and don’t think of us as hard-ass prima donnas! We’re not rock stars (yet), but we love to use these typical rock star clichés in a tongue-in-cheek way. And we love making music.”

Enjoy.

Peace, Thetania
