Circle Takes the Square (CTTS) is an American screamo band from Savannah, Georgia. Their debut release was a 7-track self-titled EP in 2001, followed later by a 7" split with Pg. 99. Circle Takes the Square has been described as being a "blend of progressive experimentation and DIY hardcore, metal, and noise...characterised by a natural fusion of grindcore and the sweeping guitar dynamics of post-punk".
CTTS did well and for a band that I did not know before I was a little amazed, The audience was nothing wrong with, the people knew the band before. The band showered on tightly, which can be seen in the pictures and video from the event. The band toured only with 3 members, dunno really what happend to the fourth.
Todays tune "Enter By The Narrow Gates" is taken from "Decompositions, Volume I, Chapter 1: Rites of Initiation" that was released on August 23, 2011 through the group's own Gatepost Recordings. The EP was also released as a limited edition of CDs, sold at Circle Takes the Square shows in late 2011 and early 2012. They have said that the new record will be titled Decompositions, Vol. 1. They have also stated that Decompositions, Vol. 1 will be part of an even larger project called Decompositions.
Enter By The Narrow Gates Live @ Studion, Kulturhuset, Stockholm, Sweden, February 6th 2012
Kylesa is a sludge metal band that was formed 2001 in Savannah, Georgia. Taking their name from "kilesa mara", a Buddhist term denoting delusory mental states. Their music incorporates experimentalism with sludgy riffs, drop-tuned guitars, crust punk, and elements of psychedelic rock.
The group was established by the former members of Damad, with the addition of guitar player Laura Pleasants. The band has since the start gone thru some line up changes. The remaining original members are Phillip Cope and Laura Pleasants. The band uses two drummers to get a more massive sound, the dual drum tracks are often panned strongly to the right and left.
A little over a week ago (Yes, I know I'm late with this) did Kylesa (Along with "KEN Mode" & Circle Takes The Square) a stop here in Stockholm to gig at Studion, Kulturhuset. Sums up the concert a little quickly, thought it was good, loud, but clear. The band delivers a good and rocking show. The dual drums provides the live experience with a large and solid sound thats providing a real boost to the band.
The Pushead-designed Band Logo from these releases has been used on all the bands merchandise and releases ever since.
Here is some pictures from the show!
Todays tune "Crowded Road" is taken from Kylesa's fifth full-length "Spiral Shadow" - 2010 And yes you can find this on Vinyl!!!
Kylesa - Crowded Road (Live from Bonnaroo 2011)

Discography
Red Fang (Sargent House, 2009) Murder the Mountains (Relapse Records, 2011)
The band consists of a bunch of awesome cool dudes open up Mastedon at the Annex. Personally I think they made a great effort, it was heavy meandering sludge riffing and it swung like a derailed train.
Members
Bryan Giles - guitar, vocals Aaron Beam - bass guitar, vocals David Sullivan - guitar John Sherman - drums
Bryan had some problems with his amp during sound check, on crackled and had his own life, think they got order on it, or hummed on behind the scenes in the background during their gig.
Here is some pictures from the gig!
Todays tune "Wires" is taken from "Murder The Mountains", released in 2011
Here is a video from the gig with Red Fang, supporting Mastodon on their 2012 European tour. This was the last song of the night, Prehistoric Dogs from Red Fang (2009).

Last Saturday got Stockholm a a visit from Mastodon, this time as headliner artist and not as support act or festival gig where playing time is often too short. Last time Mastodon visited Sweden were last summer during the Sonisphere Festival here in Stockholm. Red Fang did travel with Mastodon as support, but more on them tomorrow.
This day they arrived well rested, happy and eager, which was heard during sound check as riff from bands like Metallica were played. Brent Hinds guitar tech had to jump in during the soundcheck as Brent chose to check the ice hockey game instead. But when he showed up he was in a really mischievous mood and dressed to his skelleton costume and danced around and it turned out that the suit also had a REAL poo hatch in the back!
The gig was clearly above expectations, good and simple lighting, the sound was really good to be Annexet which usually tend to get quite muddy. You could hear pretty much everything! what a delight it was, and damn what a monster set list! See below.
Here is some pictures!

Nice drums, a tribute to Randy Rhoads

The tune of today, was first released 1970 on a singlethen later on the album "In Rock". "Black Night" made its way into the setlist soon after release, generally as the first encore. The song was not played in full after Ian Gillan and Roger Glover left the band in 1973, but snippets were often played by Ritchie Blackmore as part of his improvisations. On the reformation of Deep Purple in 1984 "Black Night" returned as part of the main set list. There are many versions of the song available on Deep Purple live albums.
