Supralunar - Nine Candles

Supralunar invited in for a gig last Saturday at MyJam/Copperfields here in Stockholm. So i took my camera and went over, it got damn in hot there, like the tropical heat had hit Sweden for real.

It was a pleasant evening, I arrived just before rock collective Artimo got up on stage, sounded ok. Met with two colleagues at the bar, where we lied about both football and metal. Just around the late hours it was time for "Supralunar " to step onto the stage.
Oh yeah this sounds good, the guys got into a good groovy mood and handle the tones great. Typical it screwed up a little, a few small things, Jojje’s Bass pedal striked a bit, things that belong to the live scene but should not happen, but it was handled quickly and smoothly. As this was the first gig with the guys I must say I really enjoyed it and got the opportunity to take some pictures and looking forward to see them soon live again.

They will do a gig at Harry B James in the end of June.

So who are these guys, well if you read their bio you might get a hint.
This is what they say.

-------------------------------------------------------------

What if Foo Fighters and The Sweet ever wrote songs together?

.......you would probably end up with something close to the sound of Supralunar. Supralunar started out in the year 2000 and had quite a buzz going for a couple of years on the Stockholm club-circuit but, due to various reasons, disbanded around 2005. In early 2010 Supralunar was resurrected thanks to new recruits Jojje Vamvatsicos and Johann Enoksson on bass and drums respectively. Along with original founding member Petri Tuulik the band continued the legacy of the previous line-up and soon Supralunar was soaring to new heights!

Supralunar play rock! They play it hard but also very melodic and varied. Standing with one leg in the seventies and the other reaching into modern territory, Supralunar prides itself on
delivering an organic and ecstatic experience. Furthermore, their energetic live act and all those harmony vocals make the trio sound as if they where a five-piece band.
Supralunar is as much a tribute to classic rock as it is an eclectic mixture of the different styles endorsed by the three bandmembers. In the fall of 2010 recording commenced on their full length debut album which is partly recorded in one of Swedens finest studios. Now finished, the band is looking for the right label to bring Supralunar to YOUR home…

Meanwhile, make sure to catch Supralunar live at a venue near you!

LET´S GO SUPRALUNAR!

Backdraft - Idiot

A few days ago, a friend (”Jojje” the bassplayer from Supralunar) and I visit to Lilla Hotellbaren/Scandic Malmen at Folkkungagatan 47 to see Backdraft’s gig. Backdraft’s bass player Mats help to run Stockholm’s only old-school country/blues/soul/roots club ”Club Nuggets” the second Thursday every month at Lilla Hotellbaren/Scandic Malmen.

Backdraft is Swedish rockband with influences from southern roots. After having made their entrance on the scene with the fairly straight-forward southern rock debut Here To Save You All in the fall of 2001 – lauded by some critics as the best in the field in more than twenty years, and this by a Swedish band! – and then taking a few years off before returning with 2007’s The Second Coming, Backdraft now back with This Heaven Goes To Eleven – their third, most ambitious album to date.

So this time it was Mats and his own band to take the stage, along with Uppsala blues man Einar (Allan Coe) who did a warm up numbers, who can also be found in punk rockers Obnoxious Youth and also perform under the Anal Karaktär moniker. I must say that this guy is truly amazing with his blues, it sounded great.

Shortly after Einar it was time for Backdraft to enter the stage, they did a semi-acoustic, slightly countrified boogie set, first time i heard them like this and holy moses it sounded great, with this setlist, the semi-acoustic approach they could play at any bar in Nashville and do huge success. Some musicians, such as "Mats Johansson" and "David Johannesson” from Mustasch and Fredrik Jansson from Witchcraft and Petri from Supralunar and a few others was there and checking out Backdraft

The dj:s was Veronica Mazurkiewicz and Daniel Josefsson

Treat - Roar

Treat is a melodic-rock band from Stockholm, Sweden. In the second half of the 1980s they had national as well as international successes with songs like "Too wild", "Get you on the run", "Ride me high", "World of promises" and "Party all over”.

They have been playing on arrangements like Monsters of Rock 1988 in Germany, they were the opening act for Queen in Sweden in 1986, and opened for W.A.S.P. during their first Sweden visit.
In 2005 they did a comeback and released the collection Weapons of choice 1984-2006 on March 19, which included the previously unreleased track "Still in heaven" along with the two new songs "GO!" and "Burn for you". They did their first reunion show in front of 4000 people on the Sweden Rock Festival on 10 June 2006.

This evening is Treat playing at Debaser Medis here in Stockholm, as support for Treat we have Houston (Swedish AOR band) and Treadstone (Swedish Melodic Rock band, kinda good actually). I was going to take a fast visit to Debaser, just to say hello to a friend that works with Treat and after that the plan was to go to a photo session with Supralunar (Swedish Rock, Powerpop band that really rocks), but i have no babysitter this evening so i will be stuck at home, so i wish them all luck thru this post.

Todays tune ”Roar" is picked from their latest creation ”Coup De Grace”. The song ”Roar” is the main theme of the Facebook app game "Monster Galaxy”. Enjoy!

Kinda cool college project of the song.
