Richie Kotzen - 24 Hours

This guy was quite unknown to me, until recently.

Richie Kotzen is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter.

With guitar styles ranging from rock, blues, jazz and fusion to pop and soul, Kotzen has built a remarkably diverse 20 year career as a guitarist, singer and songwriter. During that span, he has not only built an incredibly successful solo career, but has also found himself writing, recording and playing live with a variety of different artists, ranging from Pop/Rock bands like Poison and Mr. Big to Jazz/Fusion groups

Mr Big

Poison

like Vertu featuring Kotzen and Jazz legends Stanley Clarke and Lenny White. Working with these artists has provided Richie with a great deal of in-studio experience, as well as the opportunity to tour the world, introducing him to an international audience. In fact, his immense popularity overseas led Kotzen to one of his greatest honors - touring as the opening act on the Japanese leg of the Rolling Stones’ 2006 “A Bigger Bang Tour”.

A prolific songwriter, Richie has written several songs that have gone on to become hit singles around the world. His song “Stand.” written while a member of Poison, reached the top 20 on the Billboard charts. As the lead single off of their album NATIVE TONGUE, “Stand” was the catalyst for the album reaching platinum status. While with Mr. Big, Richie also enjoyed another milestone, having his song “Shine” reach #1 in both Europe and Japan.

Couple of days ago he released his new album "24 Hours", Im gonna play the headline track on it.

Ladys and Gents, here is Mr Kotzen!

Cheers, Thetania

SuperHeavy - Unbelievable

I just came a cross a new Supergroup called SuperHeavy.
Its kinda cool group, as Mick Jagger is among them

and the Eurythmics star Dave Stewart,

Damian Marley the youngest son of Bob Marley,

Joss Stone a English soul singsongwriter

and Indian musician and producer A.R. Rahman

and also Ann Marie Calhoun on Violin, Shiah Coore on Bass and Courtney Diedrick on Drums ( dont know much about the last one´s).

Thats a mix of many diffrent genres, that makes it all very mystic and kinda awesome :)

The music magazine "Rolling Stone" writes:
"For the first time since the Rolling Stones formed nearly 50 years ago, Mick Jagger is part of a new band Super Heavy. The band has quietly been recording together over the past 18 months, with their debut LP planned for sometime around September. "It's different from anything else I've ever been involved in," Jagger tells Rolling Stone. "The music is very wide-ranging – from reggae to ballads to Indian songs in Urdu."

The existence of "SuperHeavy" was secret until May 2011. On 20 May 2011, Mick Jagger announced its formation. Super Heavy was Dave Stewart's idea. Inspired by the sounds washing into his home in St Ann's Bay, Jamaica, Stewart urged Mick Jagger to fuse their sound with that of Indian orchestras. Stewart and Mick had mutual liking for Indian orchestrations; thus, A. R. Rahman was added to the supergroup.

The Rolling Stones – Champagne And Reefer (feat. Buddy Guy)

Became a little inspired by a blog colleague Steelgardenmusic the other day when he played a bunch of videos which is suitable to a lovely summer evening with a barbecue and beer.

So we take a Friday classics, or at least those who performs the song is classic.

Todays tune ”Champagne And Reefer” is taken from the soundtrack "Shine a Light” from The Rolling Stones concert film of the same name, directed by Martin Scorsese. It was released on 1 April 2008 by Polydor Records in UK and one week later in the United States by Interscope Records. Two different versions were released, one a double disc and the other a single disc.

The Rolling Stones and bluesman Buddy Guy performs on Muddy Waters "Champagne and Reefer.”
