Blue October - The Feel Again (Stay)

Blue October is a alternative rock band from Houston, Texas. The band was formed in 1995 and currently consists of Justin Furstenfeld (lead vocals, guitar), Jeremy Furstenfeld (drums, percussion), Ryan Delahoussaye (violin/viola, mandolin, piano, backing vocals), Matt Noveskey (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Julian Mandrake (lead guitar).

The band was discovered by former Kid Rock manager Michael Rand performing at the Atchafalaya River Cafe. Rand proceeded to book over 350 dates on the group unsigned. Extensive publicity and artist development was regimented. This work eventually led to Michael bringing the band to Universal Music Group CEO Doug Morris under the direction of long time A&R rep Reen Nalli. They were later joined by former guitarist/vocalist C.B. Hudson and bassist Matt Noveskey.

Any Man in America is the sixth studio album and ninth album overall by Blue October. The album was recorded at Matchbox Studios in Austin, Texas between Summer of 2010 and March of 2011, and it was released on August 16, 2011. The album was produced by Tim Palmer, who has previously worked with artists such as David Bowie, Robert Plant, The Cure, U2 and Pearl Jam. The artwork on the album cover is a drawing of Justin Furstenfeld drawn by Tim Palmer's daughter Bluebell, who was three years old at the time.

Any Man In America is an album of thirteen songs describing the heartbreak, sadness and restoration as a new life begins again.

Todays tune "The Feel Again (Stay)" is the latest single from the latest album.

Sam Roberts - Bridge To Nowhere

Sam Roberts is a Canadian rock singer-songwriter, whose 2001 debut release, The Inhuman Condition, became one of the bestselling independent releases in Quebec and Canadian music history.

Todays tune "Bridge To Nowhere" is taken from the second album "Chemical City", released in April, 2006.

"Another day breaks and the last one's gone. You dig deep just to carry on. Your debt's paid off but it don't feel gone. So you slip out the back and you're moving on"

The video itself is done in an interesting style, being solely in black and white and relying on computer animation for its setting. The video begins with Sam Roberts waking up in bed with a woman (who would appear to be his wife) and then following...hmz, well watch it :)

The Jayhawks - Blue

Friday, the fifth day, now the doors are opened and the festival is under way. Tonight, my plan was to checking out Thåström, a guy who I've seen dozens of times and it is certainly as good as any and of course todays headliner Prince.

The day started with lots of work, as usual when it's festival. So there is clearly much calmer in the morning, now that most work is done. But i had a few mins over and got some time to see Christian Kjellvander and holy moses, he rocked. Last time I did him he was quite sentimental and slightly withdrawn, now he rocked. I got in a little Neil Young vibe here and there ... good as hell. Also cast an eye on "The Avett Brothers," which sounded ok. Missed, however, mostly, until it was time for Robyn, could not see her, but heard. Thåström stepped in after her and I was in heaven ... then it was time for Prince, who made a surprisingly good appearance, drew slightly over time "cough" by 45 minutes to an official end time that was set at midnight.

Here is some pictures from today!

The Jayhawks are one of the few bands that can properly be called indispensable. 2011 they will be necessary for several reasons - new album, much of the past production and re-released long-awaited tour with the original, very strong composition, led by Mark Olson and Gary Louris. When the two sing together, we hear the definition of soul and spirit.

Where else americana too often sounds like someone nuts in front of a gray mirror has Jayhawks since its inception has had a firm grip on the essence of all American music - equally starry delight as stinging melancholy. That they are a band so far beyond the ordinary that not even remotely the buses go there is clear by the unconditional love they enjoy from both fans, critics and fellow artists. Side projects and solo outings have all been memorable but there is only one The Jayhawks, and that is what will this summer evening to play for you. With seven discs, all aces, on hand - from the debut album, via the classic Hollywood Town Hall, Tomorrow the Green Grass and Smile at the latest, brilliant Rainy Day Music - they have a treasure chest of songs to draw on. In the 2000s, they have proven that they do not recognize some limitations - The Jayhawks have with integrity intact delivered raw rock, lullabies, bubblegum pop and psychedelia but always stood head and shoulders above others that have come to the timeless musical expression. When they arrive at the Way Out West, they are loaded with material from throughout his 25-year career and nyhungriga with fresh songs. On stage 2011, the Jayhawks a feather-light and strong raw live band that has brought several choruses and harmonies more than a score of smaller bands. Then it was summer this year too - exclusively for Way Out West.

The Jayhawks are playing at the Flamingo, Saturday 15:30

Nutmeg - Space

Nutmeg is a band from Sweden. They was formed 2000 in Örnsköldsvik. In 2006 Johan Bergqvist joined the roster on guitar. The band has toured throughout Sweden over the years, including prestigious gigs at Emmaboda Festival, the Rookie Festival in Hultsfred and Trästocksfestivalen.
Their debut album "The Trigger" was released in 2009 on the indie label Iconic Noise, and was rewarded 5/5 in Sweden's largest music magazine "Groove", which earned it a placed in the "Top 10 albums released 2009”. The second album is under production and will be released later this year.

Nutmeg is out on a mini tour with Hong Faux (A band that has recently been on Tune Of The Day). On Wednesday (earlier this week), they visited the Lilla Hotellbaren, Scandic Malmen here in Stockholm, first out was the Stockholm band Hong Faux who did a really awesome gig, was in my mind a bit tighter than last time, the band did pretty much everything on stage and went into the role of rock stars and offered a plate of fantastic rock with a wonderful groove. Waiting for full length album with excitement.

Nutmeg got on half hour after Hong Faux, Nutmeg, this is a band that is a new acquaintance of mine, so I stood there and waited for them to get up. Johan Bergqvist is bassist in Hong Faux had made a quick change of clothes to take on the guitar for Nutmeg.

The band kicked off with an interesting mix of rock, pop and hardcore, I must say that it was actually really good, nice groove and the live vocalist Henke gave everything and reminded at times of Iggy Pop on stage.

Here are some pictures from the evening, starting out a bit with Hong Faux and then Nutmeg.

Tramp - It's Automatic

Tramp is a Swedish rock band from Stockholm. The band consists of the singer Markus Karlsson, guitarist Stefan Brändström, drums Robert Eriksson and Johannes Borgström on bass.

The overall merit accommodate participation in bands such as Hellacopters, Henry Fiat's Open Sore, Turpentines, Captain Murphy and Sewergrooves. And now, after three years of secrecy and with a slightly dazed countenance they make an entrance with their cocky debut album Indigo under their arm. Indigo is released in Scandinavia April 1:st and in the rest of Europe and the USA in May 2:nd. Musically Tramp weave together decades of musical heritage. The melodies and harmonies echoing of the 60's, the attack in the performance has more of a 70's touch, and some big gestures could be from the 80's. Furthermore, they dig into their own story and weave everything together into something that lives and breathes in its own time. It sounds British in head-on collision with the U.S. - a healthy cocktail of late '60s psychedelia and garage rock. Like New York punk rockers on a Magical Mystery Tour. Or The Damned spitting out Beach Boys songs. And sometimes as The Who in their best pop costume.

A few days ago they had their release party at Debaser Slussen together with Märvel and the label Killer Cobra Records. They did a marvelous performance, like if you translate Tramp to slut, then it will describe them pretty good. On a positive manner. For the live show it was like a gang of real pop sluts, with melodies and choruses that kicked some ass in there, a really fun night.

Here is some pictures from the gig.

Todays tune ”It's Automatic” is the first single from Tramp's debut album Indigo, enjoy!.

The new record is also released on vinyl, The regular version is sold as a 4x7" vinyl set in handstamped paperbags. There is also a limited mailorder edition in a screen printed and hand numbered box that will also include a centerhole adapter. Kinda cool.
