Hammerfall - One More Time

As promised, I'll start going through the week's concerts, we start with last weekend when Hammerfall visited Stockholm for a gig. HammerFall is a power metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden. The band was formed in 1993 by ex-Ceremonial Oath guitarist Oscar Dronjak.

HammerFall are out on their "European Outbreak 2011" tour with the classic metal band Vicous Rumors, the New Hard Rock sensation Amaranth and hyped newcomers Death Destruction.

Swedish productions are usually very fun to do, given that you know almost everyone and everything usually goes smoothly, without fuss or confusion which this evening was. Met among others Tony who worked as Stage Manager on this tour, a nice guy who is always fun to meet, even Merch Linda was there.

Vicious Rumors is a bunch of really cool guys, where the singer is a bit crazy, which basically tried to hang himself in the microphone stand and headbanging in the monitors so almost the blood flowed, crowd surfing, etc, ran into him backstage after their gig and he saw little tattered out with a big bruise in the forehead and was limping, but he was as happy as before the show.

Hammerfall did a really good gig, good speed, tight and well played, In addition had their fun, which makes a large part of show to be successful. Unfortunately, I did not see the other bands play.

Here is some pictures from the show.

Todays tune "One More Time" is a song by HammerFall and was released as the promo for their new album Infected. Two versions was released, the first featured a live recording of "Hallowed be My Name" and a instrumental version of the title track. Later a second version was released featured "Lore of the Arcane/Trailblazers" live and a newly recorded version of "Blood Bound". It was written by Vocalist Joacim Cans and Guitarist Oscar Dronjak.

The music video was recorded for the song and was directed by Swedish director Patrick Ullaeus. Along with the album it deals with a Zombie Infection. It features a storyline with the band performing in a studio when they are attacked by Zombies. At first the band fights them but later they escape. The Zombies are played by fans of the band. At the end it says "To be Continued" which implies that the story is not over.

Vicious Rumors - Murderball

Tonight, slamming it to the Arenan here in Stockholm with metal of high class, Hammerfall, Vicious Rumors, Death Destruction and Amaranthe. Do you have nothing to do tonight? so comb your hair, put on the jeans jacket and get to the Arenan. It will certainly become a hi thundering concert.

The idea was that we would write about Within Temptation today, but there is so much now as we try to poke into it tomorrow instead. Today, you get a short one as we both are on the run.

Vicious Rumors is an American power metal band founded in 1979 in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.

Todays tune "Murderball" is taken from the tenth album Razorback Killers, released in 2011.

Saxon - Call To Arms

Saxon are an English heavy metal band, formed in 1976 in Barnsley, Yorkshire. The band has recently released their 19th studio album.

The new album is actually really good, there is a real force in songwriting, songs that attracts, engages and entertains. Call To Arms, is one clarion call that generations of denim and leather-clad supporters have been waiting to hear. It's pretty fascinating that on the 19th studio album can hold such high class. Biff Byfords song is completely brilliant, Paul Quinn and Doug Scarratt is really "The Power Of Steel Riffs", also Nibs Carter on bass and Nigel Glöckler on drums doing a great job on this album, Call to Arms is bang on-the-money brilliant Saxon music.

Current Deep Purple keyboardist Don Airey made a guest appearance on "When Doomsday Comes". Two of the tracks on the album were written by the band for the movie Hybrid Theory

The album artwork is derived from Lord Kitchener Wants You, a World War I-era British Army recruitment poster. The US digipack version of the album is featuring a seven track bonus disc containing Saxon's performance at Castle Donington in 1980.

A music video was made for the title track, and was released on 5 August 2011 Which may also be today's Tune Of The Day. The "Call to Arms" album was released the 3 June, 2011 in Europe.

Todays tune "Call To Arms" is a typically British rock ballad, that follow the traditional recipe, enjoy!

Death Destruction - Fuck Yeah

Howdy Folks!

I heard a pretty new group from the Town of Metal Gothenburg!
(feels a bit weird to say this as im from Stockholm but I guess I have to admit it) DeathDestruction a quite cool bunch of guys that really can make metal happen.
Members: Jimmie Strimell (Dead by April), vocals, Henry "Hinken" Danhage (Evergrey), guitar, Fredrik Larsson (Hammerfall), bass, and Jonathan "Lillen" Ekdahl (Evergrey), drums

Death destruction began as a thing we did when we were drunk - six years later super group from Göteborg releases a live Ep and Sweden's metal elite line up to run in their music video.
We had no plans to become more than a fun thing, but then we realized it was too good to just let it be. But it took time to get together because everyone had different bands, "says the drummer Jonas Ekdahl. The members of the Deathdestruction have backgrounds in bands like Evergrey, Hammerfall and Death by April. But despite solid résumés, they do not wanna live on past achievements.
"This is a separate thing that can stand on its own. It´s like little Bambi on thin ice,
it will take the time it needs", says guitarist Henry Danhage.

They will play at:
06.17 Metaltown in Gothenburg, Sweden
07.07 Getaway festival. Gävle, Sweden
30.11 Copenhagen - Lille Vega
01.12 Stockholm - Debaser Slussen (Club paranoid)
04.12 Oslo - John Dee
08.12 Gothenburg - Parken
10.12 Västerås - Sigurdsgatan 25

Lets hear them

Headbang with me!!

Cheers, Thetania
