Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks

This band visited Stockholm Sweden at Debaser Medis last week.
Apearently they were quite popular, (i never heard about em) Debaser was full this evening and the audience was singing along and seemed to like it.

I took some pics from the gig, here they are.

The vocal guy, Marc Foster had a terrible cold, coughing back stage, Really good that they went through this gig with this, they are not like certain other artists that cancelled a full arena..cough cough no name said.

Foster the people is a indie band from the States plays sorta atmospheric, psychedelic, and dance-oriented pop, they started up in 2009.
Foster was struggelin around doing commercial jingles and then he started up the band and had a break through with this tune, Pumped Up Kicks in 2010.
In May 2011 they released the debut album "Torches".

Ladys and Gents, here is Foster the people.

Peace, Thetania

Bigbang - Epic Scrap Metal

When Eric Clapton was here his support band was This great band, BigBang!
I took some pics that I wanted to share ;) Here is on the sound check:

BigBang is a Norwegian rock band led by frontman Øystein Greni. BigBang has been described as ”Norway’s best live band”, with their Radio Radio TV Sleep holding the honor of being the best selling live album ever to be released in their home country.
Though the spelling of the band name is often inconsistent, it is usually written ”BigBang” or ”BIGBANG”.

They are:
Øystein Greni on guitar, bass, drums, percussion, vocals
Olaf Olsen on drums, percussion, backing vocals
Nikolai Eilertsen on bass/keyboards

BigBang have done 11 albums and 8 studio albums the last came 2011 called
"Epic Scrap Metal"

Epic Scrap Metal is both a term for old scrap metal, and a metaphor for battered souls. Maintenance and recycling is a picture of the band to defy adversity.

- This record would be wrecked if you tried to polish it and create a complete sound. Maybe we have gone too far, that at times this sounds bad – but I think it sounds absolutely fantastic, says Greni.

- The title track “Epic Scrap Metal” says fuck off to anyone who criticizes Bigbang because we do not fit into a specific genre. Why would you limit yourself, when you love so many types of music? Our mission in music is that formatting is the devil, he continues.

The varied album includes the party track “Cigarette”, the delicate yet powerful single “Everybody And Their Broken Hearts”. Greni have also been joined by American singer Lissie on the dramatic duet “No One”.
- The song is about daring to live with your heart on your sleeve, deal with things and move on with your life when things doesn’t work out. I’ve tried to steer clear of obscure and vague lyrics, it’s better to be specific, says lead singer and songwriter Greni.

References to bands such as Led Zeppelin, Al Green, Sonic Youth, Van Halen, White Stripes and Tom Petty appear when the band talks about the albums musical inspirations. In addiction to a bunch of neighbours from Grenis own neighborhood in LA that contribute on “Cigarette”, Thomas Seltzer aka Happy Tom from Turbonegro also contributes on the track “Kill My Buzz”.

Their sound was very communicating to me, it rocked a lot.
The Band was so thankful that we helped them to get in/out all their backline
so we got a cd and a t-shirt, cd was "Something Special – The Best of Bigbang"
Thanks a Lot !!!! :D

Here they are :)

Peace, Thetania

Dan Reed - Brave New World

Dan Reed visited Stockholm yesterday, and did a marvelous gig according to my friends Lizette And was the support band, now thats a great industrial rock band, love it!

If you missed who he is, i found this on his homesite

Dan Reed Dan Reed was born in Portland, Oregon, but in early childhood moved to South Dakota after his mother remarried the owner of a cattle ranch. Growing up on 2000 acre's of land as an only child gave Dan plenty of time to daydream and it was here, riding tractor in the summer sun that Dan first fantasized about becoming a musician while listening to the Doobie Brothers, Kiss, Cheap Trick and Van Halen blaring on the tractor cabs' AM radio.

Although there were many incarnations of bands Dan performed with in South Dakota and in Portland it was in December of 1985 where he truly first began his musical journey as the lead singer of a band called “The Dan Reed Network”. Garnering huge local support the band signed to PolyGram Records in the summer of 1987. Home of Bon Jovi, Def Leppard and Tears For Fears. The Dan Reed Network released three very successful albums to much critical and commercial success between 1988 and 1992.

The band had the honor of 'seeing the world', opening for such bands as RUN DMC, UB40, David Bowie and Bon Jovi, eventually becoming the supporting act for the Rolling Stones’ 1991 European tour. It was at this time Dan journeyed to India with Bob Guccione Jr. to interview the Dalai Lama for Spin Magazine. It was during this trip that Dan began to hunger for more than the pop/rock music scene had to offer.

This was the catalyst for the long journey that Dan has taken, bringing him back in 2008 where he belongs, writing and performing new music with experiences wth the “rock star image” behind him. In the 1990’s he started an independent record company in his hometown of Portland, Oregon to help promote local Northwest bands, while at the same time studying acting.

Bright Eyes - Approximate Sunlight

Yesterday Bright Eyes playd at Debaser, Medis, in Stockholm.
Its was very crowded, and the audience loved what they saw and heard.

I was working there, and I can say, their gear was damn heavy..in weight i mean :p
2 drummers and lotsa synths and guitars.. fully equipped for a bigger arena than Debaser.
Here is a pic I took, its a bit blury cos the crowd was moving a lot :D

When I was standing there backstage w8 for it to end, I saw 2 very big Swedish guys dressed in jeans and a nice jackets. With security shit in their ears.
Later on they was down and w8ing for a guy that was smoking...and I asked him who they were, he said they were working for the special police force, as body guards to the American Ambassador. Apearently he knew the band. :)

A founding member of Commander Venus – which disbanded in 1997 – guitarist/vocalist Conor Oberst turned to focus on his new project, Bright Eyes. The name of the band comes from a late night classic movie, Planet of the Apes, in which Dr. Zira calls Taylor "bright eyes" as a term of endearment. In 1998, he released 20 of the songs he had been stockpiling as the first official Bright Eyes album, A Collection of Songs Written and Recorded 1995-1997.

The band's permanent members are:
Conor Oberst on vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass guitar
Mike Mogis on banjo, mandolin, pedal steel guitar, electric guitar
Nate Walcott on organ, trumpet, accordion, keytar

They done 7 albums the latest came out this year, named "The Peoples Keys"
Ive choosed a tune form that album, Approximate Sunlight.

Ladys and Gents, enjoy!

Cheers, Thetania

Live, from Debaser.

From the album, just sound.
