Anthrax - Fight Em Til You Can't

Anthrax is an American heavy metal band from New York City, formed in 1981. Founded by guitarists Scott Ian and Danny Lilker, the band has since released 9 studio albums and 20 singles, and an EP featuring Public Enemy. The band was one of the most popular of the 1980s thrash metal scene. When thrash metal began to gain a major following in the mid-to-late 1980s, Anthrax were dubbed one of the "big four" of thrash metal alongside Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer. They were also one of the early thrash metal bands to sign to a major label (Island Records, in 1985).

The band lineup has been changed numerous times; following the departure of drummer Dave Weiss and bassist Kenny Kushner, several musicians replaced both band members' roles, though Paul Kahn and Greh Walls were the first to do so. In addition to this aspect, there were multiple vocalists involved in Anthrax, with Neil Turbin, Joey Belladonna and John Bush being among the frontmen of the band. Scott Ian and Charlie Benante are the only constant members that are on every album but Frank Bello is considered a constant as well.

Worship Music is the upcoming tenth studio album by Anthrax. It is their first album of original material since 2003's We've Come for You All and was to be the first to feature vocalist Dan Nelson. It was originally set to be released in May 2009. Later, however, it was announced that Joey Belladonna would perform vocals for the album, making this the first Anthrax album to feature Belladonna on vocals since 1990's Persistence of Time. Worship Music will be released on September 13, the day before the band plays The Big 4 show at Yankee Stadium.

Todays tune "Fight 'Em 'Til You Can't" will be the leadoff track on Anthrax's Worship Music album, enjoy!

Metallica - The Call Of Ktulu

Today we take a look back at the weekend when the Big 4 made a stop in Sweden and Gothenburg.
Big 4, which consists of bands Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica. Black on white it becomes a very interesting combo. Though it feels almost like it's Metallica with three support bands. Live it was a little as like that, Anthrax felt a bit tired, Megadeth was not a big shot, but Slayer delivered as usual, it was fucking great, really good job there guys, then there only was Metallica left. If this would have been a, one of a dozen gig, then i believe Slayer would take the trophy.

When I was standing and watched Slayer people begun to take pictures of me and I started to wonder, whats wrong? Do I have something caught in my bear or what is this?
Then I turned around, there was James Hetfield standing right behind me, in a Ghost t-shirt and played air guitar. (Ghost is a Swedish band)

When Slayer ended their show I took a run in to the local dressing room and pulled the harness on me, you need to wear it when you are climbing up the delay towers as they are kinda tall, (see picture below) i was going to do the follow spots on Metallica. I finally got through the chock-full audience and climb the high tower to take my place before the gig to check that the spot is working as it should and all the color filters are set as they should. (Metallica have 12 spots, 3 per person (four spots located in the backlighting tross on stage and eight front-spots attached to the two delay towers) this is kinda high amount of spot lights.)

55 696 people screamed very load as soon as a tone from the stage when the soundcheck is going on before the show, incredibly powerful. When it was time to kick off the evening's final act and ”The Bad, The Good, The Ugly" is displayed on screen and they walk up on stage, damn!! A thunderous start with the classics "Hit The Lights", closely followed out "Master of Puppets" they have shown that these four guys are really the "Big 4" that evening. Metallica goes on with really important goodies like "Seek and Destroy", "Welcome Home (Sanatarium)" and "Ride The Lightning". The instrumental "The Call of Kthulu" get the hairs rise on my arms which is also followed by the "One", with a grin on my face i continues to light on my heroes. Throughout Metallica did a really good show and showed that they really are as good as they should as a headliner band and can deliver an awesome show. With lots of pyro, flames and an awesome light show. A star to Lars that played the almost error-free gig this evening.

Todays tune is ”The Call of Kthulu” taken from the second studio album ”Ride The Lightning”. It was released on July 27, 1984.

Brandon Flowers - Crossfire

Hello again, it feels like it was ages since I wrote anything here. First a big thanks to Thetania that have kept life in the blog while I've been out on an adventure. Right now I have a deadspot in my pretty tight schedule here in Gothenburg. So far, I'm done with the festival "Where The Action Is” (WTAI), This was a really good festival. It was held at Azaleadalen (Azalea Valley), Slottsskogen in Gothenburg. 25,000 visitors during a sunny and fantastic day with lots of good music, a completely unprecedented environment of nature. The final exam of this will probably be a memory that they will certainly keep for a very long time. I really hope that this place used on any type of entertainment of the same genre.

It has certainly been an interesting time, but with much work and very little sleep. Unfortunately i have not been able to take so many pictures during this trip, had not really the time to photograph seriously during this hectic time, but mostly on the fly, but as they say, that always better than nothing. But i did hear Sahara Hotnights in the background :) Saw 1 or 2 tunes with Brandon and 2 tunes with Glasvegas and half of Coldplays show, so thats not bad at all.

Regarding on this weekend's exploits at Ullevi, that I take in the coming week. That will include the gig on friday with Iron Maiden and tonights show with the Big 4, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax.

One of the performers on the WTAI festival was Brandon Flowers, who is an American musician, best known as the frontman of the Las Vegas-based rock band The Killers. He has also released a solo album entitled Flamingo.

Todays tune is "Crossfire” that is the debut solo single from his solo album ”Flamingo". Written by Flowers himself, and produced by Brendan O'Brien.

Here is one photo from Brandons gig at WTAI taken by Magnus Sunderberg.
