David Garrett - Peer Gynt

This great Violinist came to Sweden last week, his skill with his hands were fantastic. I was totally amazed, one tune really got to me, it was a tune from Jimi Hendrix it was awesome!!!

Garret plays all kinda music, all from Peer Gynt stop by at Nirvana and Led Zeppelin to Metallica and he does it good. And on the top of it he is handsome as well :D He and his musicians had a good time under the gig, doing jokes and laughed a lot.

The tune Ive choosed for today is one of my favorites when I was a child, I loved Edward Grieg tunes, all from "Spring" to this Peer Gynt, I know it as "Berga Kungens Sal" or Mountain Kings Hall in English. Peer Gynt, Op. 23 is the incidental music to Henrik Ibsen's 1867 play of the same name, written by the Norwegian composer Grieg in
1875.

On the 4th of November Garret released his new album "Legacy" its a Beethoven album.

Here are some pics I took,

I also took a video, that I have to get in here at a later time.

Ladys and Gents here he is, David Garret!

Love, Thetania

Annihilator - Alison Hell

Jeff Waters visited Sweden last week and conducted a clinic for Epiphone, where he released his signature guitar. It was a very interesting meeting in which Jeff mixed a type of stand-up komedian with heavy guitar riffs and some songs from his own archives.

He talked a lot about Canada and Ikea, his influences and how he started playing the guitar by listening to Metallica and Slayer (which is his favorite band). How his guitar playing has been influenced by these heroes, were his riffs are coming from.
It was actually really entertaining and it turned up some tricky questions. Songs like The Trend, Alison Hell and Phoenix Rising Among others were played.

He also asked the audience to wish for the Annihilator for upcoming Sweden Rock Festival, almost felt like they were already ready for the festival. Finished the clinic to hand out Epiphone T-shirts and sign various stuff that fans and other loose people had with them.

Epiphone has a long history of supplying some of the greatest guitarists of all time with the instrument they need to excel. And that history continues with the new Annihilation-V made in cooperation with legendary guitarist Jeff Waters. Jeff ranked #3 in Joel Mclver's 2009 book The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists, and his band Annihilator have been shredding audiences worldwide for years. Now, Jeff is ready to take it up a notch with what he describes as "The Ultimate Metal Guitar!"

And, like all Epiphones, the Jeff Waters Annihilation-V comes with our Limited Lifetime Warranty backed by world famous 24/7/365 Gibson Customer Service. The Jeff Waters Annihilation-V is available in either Annihilation Red (gloss) or Pitch Black (satin). Annihilator is a Canadian heavy metal band hailing from Ottawa, Ontario, also from Vancouver, British Columbia between 1987-2002 by founding member, vocalist, guitarist and bassist Jeff Waters. The band has been around since 1984 and is the biggest selling heavy metal artist from Canada in history, yet most of the sales have not been in the band's home country. Dave Padden joined Annihilator in 2003 as lead vocalist and has continued his career with the band since, as rhythm guitarist/vocalist.

With this, I offer ofcourse some pictures and an Annihilator song.

Enjoy.

Todays tune "Alison Hell" is taken from the first album "Alice in Hell", released in 1989. The song is based on a true story about a young girl in Montreal, Canada, Alice who lives in fear of seeing the boogey man. Her parents ignore her pleas for comfort, calling it a phase. Her fear only increases as time goes on. She becomes so fearful that she reaches full insanity.

Tenacious D - Fuck Her Gently

Hey There Gurls and Guys!
Hope all is okey, I wanted to have something harder than I recently have been given u. So I thought I give you .....a gently, descretly touch of Tenacious D
:D

These 2 gentlemens have gave my world of humor and music much, I adore their playing with lyrics and the tunes are mmmmm :)

Did you guys know that Black said that the first song he enjoyed was ABBA's "Take a Chance on Me". His style was distinctly shaped by "big dinosaurs of rock" such as The Who and Led Zeppelin. In addition, Gass lists his influences as being Tom Waits and Tony Robbins. The band claimed that the inspiration for the song "Tribute" came after Black played Metallica's "One" for Gass, describing it as "the best song in the world",leading to an attempt to themselves write an even better song.

Gass has described Tenacious D's comic assertion that they are the best band as being "ridiculous because it's a matter of opinion". Black characterizes Tenacious D's comic nature as an antidote to "the masculinity of rock", adding "There's also something funny about the macho-ness of rock. Like the bands that are the fucking hardest rocking are like, 'We'll fucking kick your ass, dude... with our rock.
Russell Brand, All Shall Perish, The Lonely Island and Kanye West have in turn been influenced by the work of Tenacious D.

Ladys and Gents, here is Tenacious D with Fuck Her Gently,

Cheers, Thetania

Iconic Tonic - Zombie Baby

This is quite a new band for me, so I thought I will share it with u guys as well.
On the 8th of November they will release a new album called "Rock ans Roll"
They play a kind of straight forward rock´n roll and I think they are originated from Ohio Us. They have some influences like: Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Motley Crue, Metallica, Cheap trick, AC/DC, UFO, Black Sabbath, Def Leppard, and many more.

Iconic Tonic, formed in 2010 by long -time friends Dave, Chad, and Tony. After each spent time in other projects that achieved both regional and national recognition, they decided it was time to fuel their creative energy towards an uncompromising and wickedly satisfying rock n’ roll band. Once together, the song ideas began to flow, and they immediately began rehearsing and recording.

The Members are: Members: Chad Eric Snelling - Co-Lead Vocals, Bass, Piano / Dave Spencer Co-Lead Vocals, Guitars / Tony Hawes Backing Vocals, Drums, Percussion

Here are their MySpace site.
And their Facebook site.

Folks, here are Iconic Tonic!

Peace, Thetania

Metallica - Fade to Black

Today is as much as 25 years since legendary Cliff Burton died in a bus accident!

Clifford Lee "Cliff" Burton (February 10, 1962 – September 27, 1986) was an American musician, best known as the bass guitarist for the American heavy metal band Metallica.

Burton joined the band in 1982 and performed on its debut studio album, Kill 'Em All. He performed on two more Metallica albums, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets, both of which met with major commercial and critical success. Burton was known for his "lead bass" approach, in which the bass played a melodic and soloist role, in addition to holding down the harmonic and rhythmic foundation of the band.

On September 27, 1986, Burton died when the band's tour bus over-turned in Dörarp, southern Sweden. Burton was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Metallica on April 4, 2009.

Tune Of The Day dedicates a song to Cliff, R.I.P.

"Fade to Black" is a song by the American heavy metal band Metallica. It was released as the first promotional single from its second studio album, Ride the Lightning. The song was ranked as having the 24th best guitar solo ever by Guitar World readers.

The official Tune Of The Day comes a little later today.

Anthrax - Fight Em Til You Can't

Anthrax is an American heavy metal band from New York City, formed in 1981. Founded by guitarists Scott Ian and Danny Lilker, the band has since released 9 studio albums and 20 singles, and an EP featuring Public Enemy. The band was one of the most popular of the 1980s thrash metal scene. When thrash metal began to gain a major following in the mid-to-late 1980s, Anthrax were dubbed one of the "big four" of thrash metal alongside Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer. They were also one of the early thrash metal bands to sign to a major label (Island Records, in 1985).

The band lineup has been changed numerous times; following the departure of drummer Dave Weiss and bassist Kenny Kushner, several musicians replaced both band members' roles, though Paul Kahn and Greh Walls were the first to do so. In addition to this aspect, there were multiple vocalists involved in Anthrax, with Neil Turbin, Joey Belladonna and John Bush being among the frontmen of the band. Scott Ian and Charlie Benante are the only constant members that are on every album but Frank Bello is considered a constant as well.

Worship Music is the upcoming tenth studio album by Anthrax. It is their first album of original material since 2003's We've Come for You All and was to be the first to feature vocalist Dan Nelson. It was originally set to be released in May 2009. Later, however, it was announced that Joey Belladonna would perform vocals for the album, making this the first Anthrax album to feature Belladonna on vocals since 1990's Persistence of Time. Worship Music will be released on September 13, the day before the band plays The Big 4 show at Yankee Stadium.

Todays tune "Fight 'Em 'Til You Can't" will be the leadoff track on Anthrax's Worship Music album, enjoy!

In anticipation of the release of their new album, Worship Music, Anthrax are giving away a new track, "Fight 'Em Til You Can't," as a free download from their website or from the widget below.

Metallica - The Call Of Ktulu

Today we take a look back at the weekend when the Big 4 made a stop in Sweden and Gothenburg.
Big 4, which consists of bands Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica. Black on white it becomes a very interesting combo. Though it feels almost like it's Metallica with three support bands. Live it was a little as like that, Anthrax felt a bit tired, Megadeth was not a big shot, but Slayer delivered as usual, it was fucking great, really good job there guys, then there only was Metallica left. If this would have been a, one of a dozen gig, then i believe Slayer would take the trophy.

When I was standing and watched Slayer people begun to take pictures of me and I started to wonder, whats wrong? Do I have something caught in my bear or what is this?
Then I turned around, there was James Hetfield standing right behind me, in a Ghost t-shirt and played air guitar. (Ghost is a Swedish band)

When Slayer ended their show I took a run in to the local dressing room and pulled the harness on me, you need to wear it when you are climbing up the delay towers as they are kinda tall, (see picture below) i was going to do the follow spots on Metallica. I finally got through the chock-full audience and climb the high tower to take my place before the gig to check that the spot is working as it should and all the color filters are set as they should. (Metallica have 12 spots, 3 per person (four spots located in the backlighting tross on stage and eight front-spots attached to the two delay towers) this is kinda high amount of spot lights.)

55 696 people screamed very load as soon as a tone from the stage when the soundcheck is going on before the show, incredibly powerful. When it was time to kick off the evening's final act and ”The Bad, The Good, The Ugly" is displayed on screen and they walk up on stage, damn!! A thunderous start with the classics "Hit The Lights", closely followed out "Master of Puppets" they have shown that these four guys are really the "Big 4" that evening. Metallica goes on with really important goodies like "Seek and Destroy", "Welcome Home (Sanatarium)" and "Ride The Lightning". The instrumental "The Call of Kthulu" get the hairs rise on my arms which is also followed by the "One", with a grin on my face i continues to light on my heroes. Throughout Metallica did a really good show and showed that they really are as good as they should as a headliner band and can deliver an awesome show. With lots of pyro, flames and an awesome light show. A star to Lars that played the almost error-free gig this evening.

Todays tune is ”The Call of Kthulu” taken from the second studio album ”Ride The Lightning”. It was released on July 27, 1984.

This video is Live from Gothenburg, 3 July 2011.

Here is a great video from a friend of mine (Danny Williams) that was on the stage roof releasing the air filled beach balls.

Brandon Flowers - Crossfire

Hello again, it feels like it was ages since I wrote anything here. First a big thanks to Thetania that have kept life in the blog while I've been out on an adventure. Right now I have a deadspot in my pretty tight schedule here in Gothenburg. So far, I'm done with the festival "Where The Action Is” (WTAI), This was a really good festival. It was held at Azaleadalen (Azalea Valley), Slottsskogen in Gothenburg. 25,000 visitors during a sunny and fantastic day with lots of good music, a completely unprecedented environment of nature. The final exam of this will probably be a memory that they will certainly keep for a very long time. I really hope that this place used on any type of entertainment of the same genre.

It has certainly been an interesting time, but with much work and very little sleep. Unfortunately i have not been able to take so many pictures during this trip, had not really the time to photograph seriously during this hectic time, but mostly on the fly, but as they say, that always better than nothing. But i did hear Sahara Hotnights in the background :) Saw 1 or 2 tunes with Brandon and 2 tunes with Glasvegas and half of Coldplays show, so thats not bad at all.

Last fix on the backstage area.

The backstage area, looks like a Circus from distance.

Regarding on this weekend's exploits at Ullevi, that I take in the coming week. That will include the gig on friday with Iron Maiden and tonights show with the Big 4, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax.

One of the performers on the WTAI festival was Brandon Flowers, who is an American musician, best known as the frontman of the Las Vegas-based rock band The Killers. He has also released a solo album entitled Flamingo.

Todays tune is "Crossfire” that is the debut solo single from his solo album ”Flamingo". Written by Flowers himself, and produced by Brendan O'Brien.

Here is one photo from Brandons gig at WTAI taken by Magnus Sunderberg.
