In Flames - Where The Dead Ships Dwell

My Moment at Sonisphere was In Flames!
I got goose bumps, I sang, I couldnt stand still, I laughed, I screamed (so noone saw it, haha)

Here I stand in the middle of seated people in red.

They were really good, the singer Anders is a great audience man. As he is from Gothenburg and we in Stockholm feel somehow threatened by that city and vice versa, there were some jokes were made about it :D He also told all that go and buy the new album and today in arrived in our mailbox :D LOOOOVE IT!!

Stones were out there and took some pics for me :D

This was In Flames first gig in Sweden after releasing the new album and it sounded darn good, much better than from the album, some band have so much "help" on the album so the live act sounds worse but this wasent the matter in this case. It helped me to LOVE some tunes that I didnt feel that much for b4.

What im trying to point out here is that IT WAS FUCKING GREAT GIG!!!!!!!

For you that dont know so much of In Flames Ill tell you some.

In Flames, along with Dark Tranquillity and At the Gates, pioneered what is now known as melodic death metal. The founding members of all three bands all lived in Gothenburg, Sweden and they were all friends who shared the same musical interests. Eventually, that group of friends branched off into three bands with the same musical direction, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, and At the Gates all goodies.

Jesper Strömblad formed In Flames to write music that combined the melodic guitar style of Iron Maiden with the brutality of death metal, something which Jesper stated he had never heard any band do. In writing songs, Jesper also decided to make use of keyboards, something which was (at the time) uncommon in death metal. Ever since In Flames' debut studio album, Lunar Strain, the band has made use of keyboards, although other extreme metal bands such as Cradle of Filth had been using keyboards years before them. Despite their sometimes heavy use of keyboards in their music, they still refuse to recruit a full-time keyboardist.

Jesper has now left In Flames and a former guitarist Niclas Engelin came back instead, I do like Niclas although I love Jesper and what he done for In Flames I wish him a great future :D

Here is a pic on the backstage of Apollo stage.

Okey, Ladys and Gents, here´s, In Flames!

Love, Thetania

Airbourne - Born to Kill

Sonisphere is here!!!

One of the band that will come is the Austrailan band Airbourne.
Sounds like another Aussie band ;)
Airbourne started up 2003 and have done 3 studio albums and one live.
Last album came out 2010 and was named "No Guts. No Glory."

Rhythm guitarist David Roads confirmed the band would be entering the studio at the end of January 2009 to work on new material. In the 17 January issue of Kerrang! magazine, Joel O' Keeffe revealed that the band had begun writing the record in the Criterion Hotel, the pub they played their first gigs in their home town of Warnambool. "We're getting all our gear plugged in and getting set for Aussie pub rock written in an Aussie rock pub!", stated Joel.

"Born To Kill", a new song, was played live for the first time at the Logan Campbell Centre, Auckland, New Zealand on 7 October 2009. The song was the first new material to be played live since 2008, indicating it may appear on the new album. On 19 January 2010, another new song, "No Way But The Hard Way", was played on the BBC Radio 1 Rock show, and as the first single to the album it was made available on iTunes on 9 February 2010.

The band is:
Joel O'Keeffe on Lead vocals, lead guitar
Ryan O'Keeffe on Drums, percussion
David Roads on Rhythm guitar, backup vocals
Justin Street on Bass guitar, backup vocals

Iron Maiden - Blood Brothers

Back in Stockholm after two weeks in Gothenburg, we have already taken a look at the festival where I spent the most time of my stay in the eminent city. Finished it all with a weekend at Ullevi and two totally awesome concerts.

Gothenburg, sun, warmth, Ullevi, Iron Maiden and 56,245 cheering fans - probably the most logical formula ever assembled.

The band delivered once again a magnificent evening with their epic galloping metal. The sound is a bit shaky at first, but gets better the longer they come into the setlist, once the song number seven "The Trooper" kicks off then the Ullevi Stadium explodes.

Songs like The Wicker Man, Blood Brothers got a very well received, the new tune "When The Wild Wind Blows" is really epic live. Then the classics tunes make a fire in the hole and they one after an other, see setlist below.

That the band is known for dragging with them a lot of props to build up its production around, and sure, they did so even this time. Space was the theme this time and held a great class with both the radio tower and a giant Evil Eddie. Overall it was an ok concert. Opening acts for the evening was the Swedish Graveyard and Sabaton.

A more detailed review of the concert can be found at WeRock!, Written by Martin Bensch.

Todays tune ”Blood Brothers” is taken from their the twelfth studio album "Brave New World”, released on 30 May 2000.

Setlist:
1. Satelite 15 / The Final Frontier
2. El Dorado
3. 2 Minutes To Midnight
4. The Talisman
5. Coming Home
6. Dance of Death
7. The Trooper
8. The Wicker Man
9. Blood Brothers
10. When The Wild Wind Blows
11. The Evil That Men Do
12. Fear Of The Dark
13. Iron Maiden
Encore:
14. The Number Of The Beast
15. Hallowed Be Thy Name
16. Running Free

Here is some videos filmed from the show.

Brandon Flowers - Crossfire

Hello again, it feels like it was ages since I wrote anything here. First a big thanks to Thetania that have kept life in the blog while I've been out on an adventure. Right now I have a deadspot in my pretty tight schedule here in Gothenburg. So far, I'm done with the festival "Where The Action Is” (WTAI), This was a really good festival. It was held at Azaleadalen (Azalea Valley), Slottsskogen in Gothenburg. 25,000 visitors during a sunny and fantastic day with lots of good music, a completely unprecedented environment of nature. The final exam of this will probably be a memory that they will certainly keep for a very long time. I really hope that this place used on any type of entertainment of the same genre.

It has certainly been an interesting time, but with much work and very little sleep. Unfortunately i have not been able to take so many pictures during this trip, had not really the time to photograph seriously during this hectic time, but mostly on the fly, but as they say, that always better than nothing. But i did hear Sahara Hotnights in the background :) Saw 1 or 2 tunes with Brandon and 2 tunes with Glasvegas and half of Coldplays show, so thats not bad at all.

Regarding on this weekend's exploits at Ullevi, that I take in the coming week. That will include the gig on friday with Iron Maiden and tonights show with the Big 4, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax.

One of the performers on the WTAI festival was Brandon Flowers, who is an American musician, best known as the frontman of the Las Vegas-based rock band The Killers. He has also released a solo album entitled Flamingo.

Todays tune is "Crossfire” that is the debut solo single from his solo album ”Flamingo". Written by Flowers himself, and produced by Brendan O'Brien.

Here is one photo from Brandons gig at WTAI taken by Magnus Sunderberg.
