I choose Mr Frank Zappa a genius that died to early.
He was a composer, singer-songwriter, electric guitarist, record producer and film director. In a career spanning more than 30 years, Zappa wrote rock, jazz, orchestral and musique concrète works. He also directed feature-length films and music videos, and designed album covers. Zappa produced almost all of the more than 60 albums he released with the band The Mothers of Invention and as a solo artist.
Todays tune comes from his Apostrophe (') album from 1974.
Ladys and Gents, This is Frank Zappa

Today I was at gallery that 2 of my dearest friends had, at Gallery Kocks. Tomas Johansson and Sofia Lundberg, Tomas is a marvelous painter and Sofia takes wonderful photos. Here they are :D
Tomas Johansson, painter and also the bas player in Lizette & (as we showed u a couple of days ago)
Sofia Lundberg, Photographer.
On this Gallery I met another exiting man, Hansi Cross. He is a musician, and producer of music, Ive come across him many times (we are even FB friends) over the years. We have many common friends, but never spoke for real, until today. He is a very nice and intresting person, full of caring and love.
He and his band plays Symphonic progressive rock, and they are really good!! And now on February 3rd they are releasing an album "Wake Up Call".
In November 2009, Hansi did an interview for Background Magazine and on the question: How do you see yourself: as a singer/guitarist, a keyboardist or a composer and producer?
He said:
“I see myself as a composer and a singing guitarist. I’m not a brilliant keyboardist, but I tend to find it more inspiring to compose our music on keyboards rather than guitar. This creates some interesting situations. For instance, if I compose a riff for guitar and bass on keyboards it sounds great and not too difficult, but by the time, we have to play it on guitar it sometimes turns out to be quite a challenge. What is easy to play on keyboards is not always easy on guitar.
I believe this way of working adds a Cross-approach to our music. Riffs and bass lines often have a sort of uniqueness, because they have been written on different instruments. I like most of the parts of that creative process, in different ways, but I think the composing part is the most important to me. Of course, I highly enjoy performing, playing guitar and singing as well. I wouldn’t want to focus entirely on composing.”
The guys behind this album is: Hansi Cross - guitars, keyboards, lead & harmony vox, percussion Lollo Andersson - basses, taurus Tomas Hjort - drums, percussion with: Jock Millgardh - lead and harmony vox Mats Bender - keyboards Hannah Sundkvist - electric violin Stefan Damicolas - harmony vox Sabina Cross - additional violin Lizette von Panajott - processed female vox
Stones and me are moving to a new place :D Its a lot of shit that have to happen b4.... aaaahhh packing, its not my favorite thingie to do. For example, Stones...he is a vinyl bitch, why cant the man just buy cd´s, It takes so many damn boxes for those big vinyl shitties :P Ah well, while we were packing I found a nice cd by Peter Gabriel. So I liked to share it with u all.
Peter.. He is a genius!!! I admire this man a lot. He I remember a film that I saw, about how he made his music. He went around everywere recording diffrent sounds that he could use to put in his keyboard and use as a sound on it..totally brilliant. The product was amazing. Did u guys know that in 1970, he played the flute on Cat Stevens' album, Mona Bone Jakon.
Peter did an album last year, "New Blood" and that is the ninth studio album, released on 10 October 2011. The album consists of orchestral re-recordings of various tracks from throughout his career.
This is a group that done a sorta diffrent album this time... little Lighter but more complex, not that hard but cooler..
Opeth and the album Heritage.
I do love this one....Saw them at Hovet some time ago, and they were lovely. Im in the middle of all X-Mas cooking here so...lets get down to the Video.
We mentioned earlier that Püssy a Go Go arranges magic music nights. Their Motto is "Will make you cream in your jeans" The club with the vinyl crates full of 77'punk, 60's garage, psychedelia, prog rock, the most lethal heavy metal and other generated between 40-70s. With live bands, release parties, obscure drop by´s & the best people behind the music machines take the club around wherever it feels to be. This autumn it is found mainly at Nalen, Debaser, The small hotel bar & cafe Louie Louie in Stockholm Sweden. It was so funny, cos one of them said Oh thats so cool that u gonna come and I didnt recognized her name first, then I realized she was my oldest friend doughter.
Anyway we had a ball on this concert/club, mayby to many beers :D The band we came their for was Abramis Brama, a band that comes from up north in Sweden. I encountered them some years ago and fell in love! The sound is Black Sabbath but not...haha Its very 70´s like but new anwyay. Hard to describe. The band lost a guitar guy but still they sound very good. They said on their homesite: "Robert, after six and a half years decided to leave Abramis. We think of course that it is really sad. We have not yet been decided whether or not to replace Robert (with another guitarist)."
They sing in Swedish , I cought the singer afterwards and got a hug and a picture :) Here are the pics that were taken.
Opeth....will come to Arenan Fryshuset in Stockholm , Sweden tomorrow.
As Stones and I wont be able to go there, so we do some commercial to it :) We are damn sorry about it but, we both have so much thingies to do so we cant make it.
Opeth is a Swedish progressive rock group that released a album this year that isnt as it use to be....he is not growling, its a pretty sorta slow progressive rock album, it got a lot of both good/bad critics, meanwhile a lot of the hard core fans dont like it. Stones likes it a lot, I like it also, but do like the harder stuff more :D
Anyway, the tune I´m gonna play for ya all today I DO LIKE A LOT!! It reminds me of tunes in my youth or even yearlier...his voice..hm..donno, Doors No more like Jethro Tulls singer Ian Anderson.. Well I do like this.
This tune is a tribute to Ronnie James Dio, who died during the album's writing process. Sunday and then it is time for a classic. Today we fly to the economically stricken Greece and turn the time so we end up in the early 70's. Aphrodite's Child was a Greek progressive rock band formed in 1967, by Vangelis Papathanassiou (keyboards), Demis Roussos (bass guitar and vocals), Loukas Sideras (drums and vocals), and Anargyros "Silver" Koulouris (guitar). Their band's name was derived from the title of a track from another Mercury act, Dick Campbell, from his Sings Where It's At album. The band has released three albums, End of the World (February 1968) and It's Five O'Clock (December 1969) and 666 (June 1972) The last mentioned is the one we will take a closer look at today.
The band began to record their next outpouring late in 1970: a musical adaptation of the biblical Book of Revelation, entitled 666 (The Apocalypse of John, 13/18). Koulouris, having finished his Greek army duty rejoined the band. However, relations between all the band members were not good at the time, and continued to worsen during the album's creation.
Essentially, 666 was Vangelis' concept, created with an outside lyricist, Costas Ferris. The music that Vangelis was creating for 666 was much more psychedelic and progressive rock oriented than anything the band had done before. The music itself was an impressive display of Vangelis' abilities, combining psychedelic and progressive rock with ethnic instruments, choral chanting, recitations, and very advanced use of synthesizers and keyboards for the time. In time the album became recognized as one of the most important early progressive rock works, and a defining example of the concept album. 666 also made Vangelis an underground name to watch, and in 1974 earned him an offer from Jon Anderson to join Yes following the departure of Rick Wakeman.
By the time the double album 666 finally was released in June 1972, and having sold over 20 million albums, the band had already split. Both Vangelis and Roussos pursued successful solo careers, Roussos as a pop singer and Vangelis first in electronic music, then in movie soundtracks, which made him a successful film score composer of the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s, having penned such titles as 1982's Ridley Scott's Blade Runner and 2004's Oliver Stone's Alexander among many others. Koulouris worked with both on occasion. Sideras pursued a less successful solo career, releasing an album and the single Rising Sun after the break-up then disappearing into obscurity.
Just before the release of the album Vangelis engaged in a long fight with Mercury Records over the content of the album. The record company, in particular, objected to the song "∞" (infinity), which they considered obscene. It consisted of Irene Papas chanting the words "I was, I am, I am to come" over and over again in various stages of hysteria, while Vangelis accompanied her on a maelstrom of percussion (the five-minute finished track was reportedly edited down from a 39-minute piece recorded in a single take). However, the double-album length of 666 and the musical experimentation, as well as the subject matter, also exacerbated Mercury's ire. Another bone of contention was the sleeve note stating "This album was recorded under the influence of Sahlep." This was at first suspected to be either a drug or some form of occult ritual; in fact it is a drink popular around the eastern Mediterranean and made from the dried powdered roots of a type of orchid. After Roussos and Sideras had already released their first solo albums, Mercury finally agreed to release 666 one year after completion and two years after Roussos, Sideras and Koulouris had finished their parts in it, on its progressive rock subsidiary Vertigo Records. The single "Break" also came out in 1972, as did a single vinyl edition of the album in Brazil, also titled Break.
Current fans and critics typically rate 666 as the group's finest effort and I can definitely agree with that. One single makes it off the album, "Break/Babylon" is released in November 1972, but that can not turn the album into a commercial success at the time. Today however the experimental "666" has received widespread acknowledgement and is regarded as a classic work and milestone in progressive rock!

"Solsbury Hill" is a song by British musician Peter Gabriel, about a spiritual experience atop Solsbury Hill in Somerset", England. Gabriel wrote the song after his departure from the progressive rock band Genesis, of which he had been the lead singer since its inception, explaining the reasons behind his departure." It was his debut single. The single was a Top 20 hit in the UK and reached the Top 70 on the Billboard Hot 100."
It has been used in a number of movies, for example in the soundtracks of the 2001 film Vanilla Sky, and the 2004 film In Good Company. The song has been covered by many artists, including moe., Dave Matthews, Erasure, Sarah McLachlan, Saga, and Justin Hines, among others.
The song uses a 7/4 time signature for the vast majority of the song. The last two measures of each chorus are in 4/4.

She loved the concert.
On February 26, 2010, the band reformed and reunited for a brief tour of Europe in the summer to benefit Mike Porcaro, who has ALS. The lineup featured David Paich, Steve Lukather, Steve Porcaro, Simon Phillips, Joseph Williams and special guest Nathan East.
Steve Lukather stated that the band still exist; “well with Mike not being well and some of us missing each other the REAL high school friends ( yes that includes Joe!!) got back together for the RIGHT reason.
People want to hear the hits played the way they were recorded, Joe has his voice back 100% and I loved having that power in front again and all REAL, BG vocals again strong and seeing Paich AND Steve Porcaro with THOSE real keyboard sounds, Simon back and as Lee was busy having old pal Nate East step in.. it was so much fun and so successful we thought " Hmm, maybe a few gigs once in awhile would be fun" and we can make some money etc.. please some of the hard core fans. We ALL have outside careers that keep us all busy, not to mention famlies etc.. no one really wants to make new music, not a full record anyway. MAYBE a track someday but not in the near future. I am on tour for a year anyway and enjoying a very successful sold out solo tour and my record sales are better than they have ever been so I dont wanna mess THAT up and everyone has their own very busy successful lives and once in awhile.. why not right? There is no covert BS goin on here."
Lukather also said that they went on with Joseph Williams because they wanted to try something different and that he did not have any bad feelings towards Bobby Kimball. The band will continue with the current line up.
Toto plan to memorialize the 2011 European Tour by filming an upcoming show this summer. This DVD is scheduled to be released later this year.
