Slipknot - Psychosocial

Today I thought to mention some impressions from Sonisphere festival that took place this weekend. This is the third year this festival is held here in Sweden, this is also the third year that I've been working with it in one way or another. The first time it was in Hultsfred (South Of Sweden), second year on the ”Stora Skuggan (Big Shadow)" outside Stockholm, and this time it became a city festival almost in the center of Stockholm, when the area around the Globe was used for this eminent one-day festival.

Due, of much work at the beginning of the festival with various fix various I missed both SEVEN TRIBE and DEAD BY APRIL, no major loss i think, you could hear the tunes in the background. I did however got the chance to see a few songs with my Norwegian favorites KVELERTAK that cleared the net and brought back to life of the sun drowsy audience with their groovy mangle. A band that I prefer to see in a smaller environment such as the venue they had last time in Stockholm, Debaser Slussen. Unfortunately I missed the GRAVEYARDs gig, but ran into them in the hallways, nice guys indeed. MASTODON was to my satisfaction, and I managed to see around four songs before it was time to run away again. ARCH ENEMY did in my opinion an awesome gig, Angela Gossow is the woman with the power to get the usual deadly to fall like skittles. AIRBOURNE had a full blast from beginning to end and showed that they can rock like hell, fun to watch actually. IN FLAMES is always great to see live, but it was a shame that so few new songs were played, the new album is really high class. But as always, great to meet the guys behind the band, Biffen, Morgan Brown, Tobbe Berg, Fish and others. MUSTASCH I did not see, but i did hear them.

The festival's climax and headliner, SLIPKNOT have the honor of ending the stripped down Sonisphere this time, as they do in a brilliant way, enough crazy to stick around and enjoy the spectacle.

Paul Gray, who passed away a little over five years ago was hailed by his dress, it was hanging on the stage and his stand in was hiding behind it all. The show was pretty emotional, but crazy, just as one would expect from the guys.

Here is some pictures from my camera.

Here is some pictures from my friend and the great photographer Micke Sandströms camera.

Todays tune "Psychosocial” is the second single and fourth track from their fourth studio album, "All Hope Is Gone”. Percussionist Shawn Crahan told The Pulse of Radio what he could regarding "Psychosocial", saying, "One thing I can feel is like that song has got a lot of, I would say social anxiety. It's got a real good tempo. It's really fun and it's different. I think most of the stuff that we have is different.”

Arch Enemy - We Will Rise

Sonisphere came and went and when I read the comments from Sonisphere Facebook page I couldnt see any negative comment..Thats kinda cool :D
Stones worked his ass off all week there and now its time for some vacation.
I have a pretty tired and eaking man at home right now, after being on the roll since the 18 of June he is kinda tired, mildly said hehe. He took some pics on the festival that we will show to u.

DAAAMN, Wow I am frecking amazed over this Festival!!!
It was so much goodies, although I was kinda stucked at stage 1 (Apollo stage).
thats Arch Enemy was late made me happy cos they switched with Mastodon and played at Apollo stage. :D

She sings like a whole man :D the German girl, Angela Gossow, she is among a small number of females to front as a death metal singer. She has a mezzo-soprano vocal range, with a death growl. She is a vegetarian. Since 2008 she is a manager for Arch Enemy and Spiritual Beggars.

Arch Enemy did a very good gig, the whole audience rolled with the music.
It wasent like In Flames or Slipknot but it was damn goood :D

I had a very good spot to work at so I could look at the show now and then.

Here is the Apollo stage and arena b4 the show started.

Mastodon - Divinations

Sonisphere Festival 2011

Slipknot, In Flames, Mastodon, Mustasch, Airborne, Dead By April, Kvelertak and Graveyard. We proudly present this year's great artist arrangement for the international festival of Sonisphere Festival 2011th Saturday, July 9 Stockholm's new festival area, with scenes of both Söderstadion and Globentorget - Globe Arena Open Air! Tickets will be released February 25 at 09:00

MASTODON

American Mastodon will also come to Sonisphere Festival with their explosive, intelligent and powerful metal. They formed in 1999 when drummer Brann Dail and guitarist Bill Kelliher moved to Atlanta and met bassist Troy Sanders and guitarist Brent Hinds at a gig. Quickly they realized that they all four liked bands like Melvins, Neurosis and '70s Thin Lizzy. Mastodon was a fact.

Twelve years and four albums later, countless tributes in such as "new Metallica" is not unusual, and a variety of tours in the back is Mastodon hotter than ever. After completing their tour with Metallica in 2009, Mastodon went together in 2010 with bands as Deftones and Alice in Chains and created the tour "Blackdiamondskye" which was a success in U.S. and Canada. And now, in 2011, the come to Sonisphere in Stockholm. Powerful!

SLIPKNOT

This summer's major rock event in Stockholm, Sonisphere, culminating in a show of U.S. metal gods SLIPKNOT! last time they were in Sweden was the summer of 2009 when they got Metal Town in Gothenburg to completely explode. The year before they got a sold out Hovet in Stockholm to shake, literally speking. Now it's time again for 'The Maggots "to take the capital of Sweden. As a tribute to original member Paul Gray, who tragically died last year, they promise that no one should be indifferent in the summer. Slipknot is back!

Slipknot is one of the most important and dynamic profile band that came from the late 90's metal scene. The band has influenced many bands from that era up until today. Using a series of Ozzfest tours, and countless other tours and a bunch of successful albums cemented the band from Des Moines quickly his role as one of the top names in modern metal. Slipknot has now sold over 14 million albums, but everyone knows that it is through their energetic, explosive and unforgettable live shows you will experience the nine Slipknot members derrsed in a mask!

Slipknot says:

“We’re looking forward to spending our summer in Europe. This tour is about us. It’s about celebrating the life of our brother, Paul and his legacy. The door is neither open nor closed. This tour is about burning down that door. See you this summer.”

We cant w8!

IN FLAMES

Flames have been on fire with as strong and proud flame since its inception in 1990 and the band is now Scandinavia and the world´s biggest metal acts. Many members have come and gone over the years but the course has always been kept stable by the band's founder Jesper Strömblad. Flames mixes hard, heavy, melodic and finely tuned to a multi-dimensional wall of sound that no other band managed to create since Black Sabbath's early years. In Flames have sold over two million records and received a huge sackful of awards. They have undoubtedly had a few great years since gold record-winning album "A Sense of Purpose" released in 2008.

Two years ago, the band ended the festival Metal Town in Gothenburg in a quite majestic way for an overwhelming audience. 2010 made the Flames their biggest headline gigs ever on Swedish soil. As many as 19 000 people saw the band for three great evenings. Now we are enormously proud to present the Flames on the main stage during the Sonisphere Festival in Stockholm. This would not be missed, not us, not you!

MUSTASCH

On February 28 Mustasch celebrates its tenth anniversary, it was ten years on this day since their debut album "The True Sound of the New West" was released. Mustasch has subsequently including won the Grammy in the category Metal of the Year for both the album "Latest Version Of The Truth" (2007) and "Mustache" (2009). Now celebrating the tenth year, on release her new album "The New Sound of the True Best".
It is recorded with producer Tobias Lindell who have recorded their best songs over the years again. The disc also includes the newly written song "Angel's Share".
The album release February 28th followed by a spring tour, there is no doubt that the highlight of the Mustasch anniversary definitely will be the gig at Sonisphere this summer.

AIRBOURNE

Airborne is a band with class gives Australian heavy metal tradition after AC / DC. Airborne was created in 2003 by brothers Joel and Ryan O'Keeffe and has already been, support to bands like Motley Crue, The Rolling Stones and Motorhead.

The sound can be described as smelling of the eighties, diesel, AC / DC, vocal loops that are exactly where they should be. In March last year released the sequel to their debut album, No Guts, No Glory, and with it in the back touring Australians worldwide in spring 2010. This summer, Sweden and Stockholm is next. Sonisphere Festival presents Airborne!

DEAD BY APRIL

Dead by April, a metal band from Gothenburg that released 2009 their eponymous debut album. But a year before their debut got the awards for "Best New Artist" from the "Swedish Metal Awards" and "Bandit Rock Awards. In Sonisphere context is the experienced, they did an awesome gig at the Hultsfred festival's 2009. This summer's concert in Sonisphere will be something special - hard, energetic and fantastic!

KVELERTAK

From Stavanger, Norway, the six-strong Kvelertak. With a fantastic mix of rocknroll, heavy metal and hardcore punk sounds not unlike their compatriots in Turbonegro, but Kvelertak take it if possible to another level. A little harder, a little more rocknroll, a little more hell and more Norwegian. Those of you who have not seen or heard Kvelertak have something to look forward to, and you who already seen or heard them know what we are talking about when we say that Kvelertak then u can not miss this at this year Sonisphere Festival!

GRAVEYARD

Graveyard was formed in Gothenburg 2006 and released years after their debut album. Graveyard is based both their sound and their look of a solid "back ground " - but is certainly much more than just a repetition of the past. This is very evident on the band's upcoming album - produced by Don Alsterberg (José Gonzales, Juniper, Soundtrack of Our Lives, The International Noise Conspiracy) - where the band with Don has managed to create an analogy, recorded and mixed production, which tastefully combines the 70's classic rock with a strong modern sound. Everyone who has seen the Graveyard live, know that they deliver something extraordinary. David Noaksson from a newspaper wrote after a gig last fall:

Graveyard's a bit like a bastard between Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Cream, which come forward and challenge the throne. Perhaps the best gig I've seen in Sundsvall. "

We are extremely proud to give you Graveyard of Sonisphere Festival this summer.

Information
Sonisphere Festival was established in 2009 and received the award "Best New Festival" at the 2009 UK Festival Awards. That year the festival visited six countries. Now just two years later, Sonisphere Festival has grown even bigger, 2011, twelve countries we will have this festival. We are delighted and proud that Sweden and Stockholm is one of those. See you this summer!

Ladys and Gents, Let me present: Mastodon!

Peace, Thetania
