Calle & The Undervalleys - Back In The Fast Lane

We got a mail... That got me intrested.
I had my Tune Of Today but, I couldnt resist this tune :)

The band's singer Calle Kristiansson got his big breakthrough in Swedish Idol 2009 when he ended up a creditable 2nd place and went gold with his self-titled solo album.

Calle performed during Idol the tune "Walking in Memphis" which became a hit in Sweden. When the TV show was over, Calle got back with his old band Calle & The In Valleys and embarked on a nationwide tour, a tour that met with more or less sold out shows and rave reviews. In September 2010 the band recorded an album of mostly self-written songs in the legendary Varispeed Studios with Acke Bengtsson (Lundell, Thåström, Håkan Hellström, etc.) as producer and technician. The disc "Valley Rally" will be released on 17 June (Breitenfellner Records / Sony Music) and contains the single "Lonely mothers holy land."

The band consists of:
Calle Kristiansson
Josef Underdal
Adrian Underdal
Arvid ”Underdal” Nilsson
Joel Strömgren

For more info look @ Homesite.

Enjoy folks,

Cheers, Thetania

Sarah Dawn Finer - Standing Strong

Stones and I got some lights on some Swedish brilliant stars on the 2nd of December at the Ericson Globe.

For the sixth year in a row The Show of Christmas takes place in the Globe. This year's artists was Peter Jöback, Lisa Nilsson, Sarah Dawn Finer, Eric Gadd, September, Veronica Maggio, Cotton Club & Richard Häger, Master of Ceremonies was Mark Levengood.

Mark is very funny and we had a lot of laughs.

My choise of todays tune , Sarah Dawn Finer.

Sarah begun her career with singing backing vocals to different Swedish artists.
2005 she released her fist ep then 2007 she released her first album, "A Finer Dawn". Her latest album was Winterland that was released 2010.
Sarah is born in Stockholm, her mom comes from America, both her sister and brother is in the music business. Her voice and appearance is extremely beautiful its like she have a sparkling light surrounding her.

In the end of the show we took a quick break before loading out, I had a phone call that our daughter swallowed a little glass ball, hm.... then Peter Jöback told me that he swallowed one too when he was a child and it went all good. Ahh good thank u for that, I was a bit worried :)

Ladys and Gents, This is Sarah Dawn Finer!

Love, Thetania

Found an 2004 video with both Peter Jöback och Sarah Dawn Finer :)

Rival Sons - Soul

Last Thursday, there were music all the way. First release party with Hong Faux, which I talked about yesterday, great to hear them play the new songs live. Unfortunately I did not have the time to stay for the entire gig, was so much in a hurry to Strand to witness the Rival Sons Live, which was something I had really been looking forward to.

On the way there with two buddies, Jojje and Petri (Supralunar), we passed the car to lay off the new Hong Faux vinyl and the new t-shirt that was purchased during the release party, vinyl was however a gift from Björn, in the band as a thank you for the photos in the record inlay, funny as hell that they wanted to use them for the record.. Once we got to the car so I noticed a yellow note on car window ... yikes!

Represses the yellow note and gears up for gig instead, once I entered the Strand, Jeff and The Brotherhood's was playing the last song, time to snap a few pictures, but didn't not have the time really to form an idea of how it was. Before Jeff was playing there was a Swedish band called them self as "Flykten" would have been fun to hear live, will try to watch them some other time, the litte Ive heard, it sounds very interesting.

Then it was time for the main act to get on and the curtain was opened, a wonderful feeling runned through the body, this will be so good. Certain it was so, awsome how good the gig became, what a retroactive feeling, holy moses. We know already that the band is great on record, but they are awsome great live, what emotions they could create, its incredible. The singer sings with incredible feeling and his vocal work is magnificent. Even musicians are tight and well played, the contact between each other is clear as a bell, which can be seen when the jam sessions takes place and when they joke with each other. This was simply a awsome gig even though I missed some songs which I would have liked that were on the set list, as "Face of light" which is one of the best track on the Pressure of Time. But received in other hand "Soul", this song is taken from the EP, which was performed in a completely magical way and it felt like I was going to heaven, shit what I shivered. After the gig the band invited up to hang around and drink some beer and talk about this, which we of course did.

Here is some pictures from the show!

More pictures will be added later on the facebook!

Todays tune "Soul" is taken from their selftitled ep.

Samson For President - I Can Change

We got a mail in our box and I sat down and started the video,
Hm this was completely diffrent than the music we use to play.
However it hooked us, me and Stones, it had rythm, good vocals,
and it got lotsa soul it strucked me.
So I just had to have it on Tune Of The Day!!

Samson For President became famous being the first musician that
publicly turned down a golden ticket to the Swedish Idol. Today,
two years later, his music has been praised by, amongst others, soul
legend Raphael Saadiq and the elite of the Hiphop scene in Sweden.

Samson for president has published one album 2007 named “kibiriti” on his own record company flow free productions and is soon to publish the second album of his career. He has worked with the producer soulful (art designed urban medication 2008, got my tempo ep 2010, show me the world 2011) in the studio they have both built in the republic of rågsved. Samson has also worked with several swedish hiphop artists such as Adam Tensta, Tan Mattews, Rapper Ted, MuhammedAli, Professor P.
Songs have also been written with Jonas Asker, Aaron Sterner, Malena Umba.

The single "I Can Change" was released 19th October and was instantly
picked up by Swedish ILOVEYES.se, that called Samson for President
"Swedens new hope". The highly anticipated debut album is named "Papas Old Piano" and is going to be released early next year through Flowfree Production.
With this release he is going to do an extensive tour in Sweden and Scandinavia.

Florence + The Machine - What The Water Gave Me

When Florence and the Machine entered the music scene a few years ago, it seems that everyone has fallen in love with the charm and impeccable talent Florence Welch and her debut album "lungs". Me who basically is a so-called rocker fell for her charm, her voice, her hippie style. So it was fun to hear something new from this lady, the song has been spinning for a while but it's time to share, maybe there is someone else who likes it:)

What is surprising is how damn good "What The Water Gave Me" is. The thoughts roll back to the early Cure and Siouxsie and the Banshees when I hear this song. Sneaking in gently and it grows along the way and last minute reaches the climax and that's she goes for it full Pelt.

The new album, which is yet to be titled, will be released on 31 October 2011.

Todays tune "What The Water Gave Me" is the first taste from the upcoming album.

Ruh - I’ll Be Dead Til The End Of May

There was a Big Rock Summer Kickoff last sunday with many bands!

Stones and me missed some of em cos we were putting lights
on Mr Jerry Seinfeld.

But we saw 3 of em :D And It was a great Rock Party, They ended off with the eminent Lizette & a really cool Industrial Rock band...LOVE UUUU, That we have done here at
The Tune Of The Day a lot of times.

These bands playd:
Ruh - They just made a showcase in Los Angeles and previously opened for The Who,
July - Has re-unification and are back in business again,
Spitchic - Crazy great,
Roxie77 - Doesnt need any further description, Ryan is a real rockstar.
Lizette & - Makes their first gig with material from the new album.

Im picking Ruh as todays Tune!

The Stockholm band Ruh plays temperamental and dynamic rock with imaginative melodies and honest lyrics.

During the summer of 2005 Fredrik Sundberg (vocals) and Jens Handell (guitar) made a journey to Cairo to get inspiration to write music. At that point, there was no band, but were working on some material together. One late night in a hotel bar some new acquaintances invited Fredrik and Jens onto the stage to perform. They took what they had (a half-finished song) and played. The audience was very touched, and in the alcohol-drenched hours that followed, they kept using the same phrase to describe the music. “Ruh.” Turns out it means soul. When the guys returned to Sweden, they came home with more than just new inspiration. They came home with a name.

The band was completed with Daniel (bass), Axel (piano) and Magnus (Drums), they all brought their personal touch to the sound. The repertoire grew quickly and Rug started playing live at local bars and clubs in Stockholm. The magic (or soul) that was sparked in the hotel bar in Cairo, seemed to come alive on the Swedish stages as well. With every show the fan base grew. And after being discovered by Kattis Blom, a booker at Livenation, Ruh started playing bigger venues all over the country.

The tour plan will be put together as requests come in. ”Find the Essence and Multipy” (Ruh Records) will also be available on I-tunes and Spotify.

Members:
Fredrik Sundberg - Vox
Jens Handell - Guitar
Axel Bellinder - Keyboard
Daniel Sellberg - Bass
Magnus Frid - Drums

Their Exellente Manager is Blue Lemon Management – Power To The Artist!

Lets hear them,

Peace, Thetania
