Vektor - Cosmic Cortex

Arizona's new heroes VECTOR made me fall off the chair with its predecessor "Black Future". A unique blend of Technical Thrash and Speed in which progressive clouds welling up as a liniment for the rough carpet of verbal primal scream, coils of jazz fusion that just strokes the cheek.

David DiSanto's voice is unique, an incredible intensity, can not recall that I have ever heard anything like this before and it is fantastic and fits in perfectly.

This is the most stand-out group the Thrash Metal scene right now!

Today's tune "Cosmic Cortex" is the opening track on the album, fasten your seatbelts, here we go!

The Graviators - Druid's Ritual

The Club "Püssy a Go Go" stood for last weekend's club night at Debaser, Slussen here in Stockholm. Offered a delicious cream cake of three bands, as Asteroid (which you could read here on the blog earlier this week), The Graviators (today's tune) and Abramis Brama (Tomorrow).

Asteroid, a band that I thought sounded pretty okay, a real old school jam band with the 70´s century characters. However, I was a little surprised by The Graviators performance, a band that I actually had looked forward to see and they behaved really well live. Was a little disappointed when my favorite tune "Roller" from the album was not played live. But at large it was really, really good, great classic hard rock with a little stoner feeling. I have their debut album on the shelves which I like alot, a record which has one of the year's most beautiful cover design. I purchased their latest 12' split single that they have done with Brutus, a long and intimate tune.

The Graviators was formed deep in the woods of southern Sweden in 2009, with a vision to write and record music inspired by the sounds of the great rock ‘n’ roll groups of the 70's. With a mix of heavy, yet melodic riffs, that will take you on a trip back in time, when bands like Black Sabbath and Pentagram took heavy rock to new heights, The Graviators caught the ear of Swedish label Transubstans who signed them in early 2009. On December 11th, The Graviators self titled debut hit the stores. Their first music video, for the song Back to the Sabbath, was shot by renowned music video director Thomas Tjäder who have made videos for In Flames and At The Gates. The band was featured with the track The Magician, which also appeared on the vinyl release, on the Planet Fuzz compilation Cowbells & Cobwebs.

In 2010 Dutch label Clear Spot/ Headspin records released the album as an exclusive double splatter vinyl. The artwork for this vinyl release (and the 2nd press of the album on CD) was made by the incredible artist Vance Kelly.

In December 2010 they had the great honor of supporting the American doom legends Saint Vitus on their European tour, which took the bands through eight countries.
2011 will see the release of a vinyl split with label mates Brutus, a 14-minute epic called Druid’s Ritual. On the 16th september 2011 The Graviators enterd the studio in Malmö. And record like in the good old days (Analog recording) And hopefully mixing and mastering we'll be finished November/December. Music video we'll be out to. The album we'll be out February next year.

Here is some pictures from the gig:

Todays tune "Druid's Ritual" is taken from the 12' split featuring Norwegian/Swedish 70's hard rockers Brutus and the Swedish cornerstone of doom; The Graviators.

Rival Sons - Soul

Last Thursday, there were music all the way. First release party with Hong Faux, which I talked about yesterday, great to hear them play the new songs live. Unfortunately I did not have the time to stay for the entire gig, was so much in a hurry to Strand to witness the Rival Sons Live, which was something I had really been looking forward to.

On the way there with two buddies, Jojje and Petri (Supralunar), we passed the car to lay off the new Hong Faux vinyl and the new t-shirt that was purchased during the release party, vinyl was however a gift from Björn, in the band as a thank you for the photos in the record inlay, funny as hell that they wanted to use them for the record.. Once we got to the car so I noticed a yellow note on car window ... yikes!

Represses the yellow note and gears up for gig instead, once I entered the Strand, Jeff and The Brotherhood's was playing the last song, time to snap a few pictures, but didn't not have the time really to form an idea of how it was. Before Jeff was playing there was a Swedish band called them self as "Flykten" would have been fun to hear live, will try to watch them some other time, the litte Ive heard, it sounds very interesting.

Then it was time for the main act to get on and the curtain was opened, a wonderful feeling runned through the body, this will be so good. Certain it was so, awsome how good the gig became, what a retroactive feeling, holy moses. We know already that the band is great on record, but they are awsome great live, what emotions they could create, its incredible. The singer sings with incredible feeling and his vocal work is magnificent. Even musicians are tight and well played, the contact between each other is clear as a bell, which can be seen when the jam sessions takes place and when they joke with each other. This was simply a awsome gig even though I missed some songs which I would have liked that were on the set list, as "Face of light" which is one of the best track on the Pressure of Time. But received in other hand "Soul", this song is taken from the EP, which was performed in a completely magical way and it felt like I was going to heaven, shit what I shivered. After the gig the band invited up to hang around and drink some beer and talk about this, which we of course did.

Here is some pictures from the show!

More pictures will be added later on the facebook!

Todays tune "Soul" is taken from their selftitled ep.

The Parlor Mob - Into The Sun

This cool band comes from New Jersey, US and was born in 2004.
Its kinda hard for me to comprehend why they didnt have a breakthrough here in Sweden. They have a taste of they 70´s and a dash of 2000 :)

On August 15, 2010 the band released this statement via their websites,
in regards to their new album:

"We got home from Europe last fall knowing that we had effectively finished touring behind And You Were A Crow and feeling ready to start work on the next album. After a little bit of downtime, we pretty much holed ourselves away from everything and began writing with the individual ideas we had from the road, putting things together and seeing where it would take us.

We spent the dead of winter locked away near our home in NJ, recording demos and trying new and different things with our ideas. At some point in this process, a schism developed and we ended up parting ways amicably with our bassist Nick Villapiano. There was nothing personal about it, and we are still the best of friends. Nick is now playing in a band called Atlantic, Atlantic, and we are all very close and we encourage you to check them out. They're a fantastic band. After continuing writing for a while with no bass player, we ended up with another one of our best friends joining the band. His name is Anthony Chick and we're excited to have him as a full time member.

We finally really settled in (with a new rehearsal space) this spring and felt able to charge full bore towards the finish line, and now at last it's in sight. We've been compiling ideas and songs and concepts since about halfway through the last touring cycle and we've been condensing and improving them into what they are now. Not to mention the things that we've been writing moment to moment that we've been fleshing out into living songs. At this point we're just about ready to get in the studio and make the record.

Our friend Matt Radosevich, who engineered the first record and with whom we've remained extremely close, is going to be producing this album. We've been working with him doing pre-production for a bit now, and starting tomorrow we'll be doing two more weeks of thorough pre-pro. When that's done, it will be time to make the record.

The process that brought us here with these songs was long, extremely intense and emotionally heavy, and we're fully aware it took a bit longer than expected, but the recording process we plan on making fast, spontaneous and equally as emotionally charged. We're currently more powerful than we've ever been, and feel more strongly about these songs than we ever have about anything in our career."
We cannot wait to bring you this record.
Love, The Parlor Mob

Now on Tuesday, October 11th, their second album DOGS will be released in stores on CD and double LP vinyl, as well as digitally.

The tour looks like this:

Their homesite.
On Facebook.

Okey, Folks here is The Parlor Mob and a tune from their new album.

Cheers, Thetania

Graveyard - The Siren

Last night it was time for some live music again the Club Pussy A Go Go stood for entertainment and offered a trio of bands from Gothenburg ie, Top Hawk Horisont and Graveyard. That hyped Graveyard was the given the card was clear from the outset. Though this time, I was most curious about the band Horisont who also got to yesterday as today's tune.

A brief summary of the evening, in a over crowded Debaser Medis here in Stockholm. Where the queue wriggled as far as the sight could see. A little bizarre. First up was the Rock-Boogie band Top Hawk that I actually have never seen live or more accurately never heard of. Top Hawk offered a funky groove built on the keyboard riffs ala 70's. Well played Boogie Rock that entertained.

Top Hawk

Then it was time for Horisont to step up and unleash their face of to the creation. Their classic blues rock really get the legs to shake loose, the lead singer Axel Soderberg swayed on stage as Ozzy does. The band was really tight live and I liked what I saw and heard. When their song "Night Rider" was played it became a hell of a boost and the audience, at least those who stood next to me went bananas. A really fun thing is that when certain songs performed in Swedish. Can only say, well done Horisont. It will be really exciting to follow their journey and to hear their next album. Was in fact really hungry for purchasing a Horisont t-shirt but realized it was a bit empty of cash in my pocket.

Last out was the Graveyard this may seem tough when Horisont made an awesome warm up. Sure, but the Graveyard is experienced at this point, maybe a little too experienced. Graveyard is really tight and well played and rocked like hell on stage. A good gig but not the best. I liked their gig at the Kägelbanan related with the record release that one was really good. But hell thats me, the audience liked what they saw and heard, and it lifted a bit when the hits was played. Like the tunes "Ain't Fit To Live Here", "Hisingen Blues" & "Satan's Finest" This gig is still better than approved (normal) and I was really happy when I went home after all. Can only thank Pussy A Go Go for an awesome night and thanks for the poster:)

Now I look forward to the next club night with Pussy A Go Go when it gets to an whole evening with three really cruel acts, more about that in the future here on Tune Of The Day.

Do you want to see some pictures from the gig??? then take your ass out to facebook and check out Tune Of The Day. There will you get some more pictures from his gig.

Horisont - Nightrider

Horisont from Gothenburg, Sweden, looks to the classic hard rock and the bluesy 70′s progressive rock for inspiration. The mix of classic rock, progressive, blues and psychedelic brings the mind back to the days of Blue Cheer, Black Sabbath and November. The wha-wha, fuzz, slide, double riffs, thunderous drums and a killer voice, it’s all here.

On the album "Två Sidor Av Horisonten" from the 2009. Half of the songs on the album are written in English, half in Swedish, giving the album an exotic feel. . Horisont is also currently working on compiling their upcoming album that will be released on Rise Above Records. I belive that Horisont can provide Graveyard a good match for the audience this Friday evening at Debaser, Stockholm. Will you be there? I will!

Pussy a Go Go play records at large dance floor
Club Nuggets play play records in the restaurant

Note, the times are not exact, get there early!

20:00 Top Hawk

It all started back in 2004 when a few guys, originally residents outside of Gothenburg, met and decided to form a band: UNION. It didn’t take long before one by one started to drop out or mysteriously disappear ’til the band was completely dissolved. After a couple of month they once again stumbled across each other’s paths and started talking about reunite the band but with a refining of the previous setting: and HORISONT was born. They didn’t play many shows before they found themselves recording a studio album for Crusher Records.

The members of the band:
Axel Söderberg – vocals
Charlie Van Loo – guitar
Kristofer Möller – guitar
Magnus Delborg – bass
Pontus Jordan – drums
